EFFECTIVE PARENT/TEACHER COMMUNICATIONS WORKSHOP
Learn strategies and skills to help you:
Make your point simply and constructively
Be heard and understood
Clearly and concisely ask for what you want
Respond effectively in difficult situations
This workshop will help you strengthen and enhance your communications skills so you:
Are confident in communicating with anyone about anything
Are positive and unconditionally constructive
Accomplish more with shorter conversations and/or fewer meetings
Become a better advocate
The program covers four specific content areas critical to effective two-way communication. The primary focus of the workshop is to learn specific skills, techniques and strategies in each of the content areas that strengthen and enhance your communication skills. Role plays will be used extensively to practice these skills making it easier to incorporate them into your communication tool kit. The content areas are:
Speaking:
Using messages to be heard and let others know you understand, taking
the emotion out of communication, effective use of silence, tone of
voice, and body language.
Listening:
Listening for what is truly being said, filtering emotion from what
you hear, fighting the urge to react, and using your other senses to
listen.
Planning:
Paving the way for efficient and effective two-way communications,
identifying your goals and objectives, creating a plan to meet your
objective, timing, and communication method.
Meeting:
Focusing on finding solutions, speaking strongly and concisely so
as not to dilute your message, keeping the conversation focused on your
objective, and gaining clarity through effective questions.
This workshop is available in two formats, a single-day 6-hour workshop
or a 4-session workshop with 1.5 hours sessions.
