Don't Take It Personally

Creating an atmosphere that promotes appreciation of different behavioral preferences benefits both the individual and family members. Help everyone to:

  • Value their strengths and the strengths of other family members
  • Work as a team
  • Appreciate how differences can contribute to overall success
  • Reduce stress and conflict
  • Improve relationships
  • For nearly 30 years and for more than 40 million people, DiSC learning instruments have been used to identify behavioral preferences and help individuals develop an awareness and appreciation for themselves. In addition, learning about the different behavioral styles creates an awareness of and appreciation for what each individual adds to the family. The DiSC assessments provide a non-judgmental, fact-based framework to understand each individual's own natural style as well as understand the behavioral preferences of the other family members. There are 4 behavioral dimensions:

Dominance (D): Direct & Decisive. Strong, self-assured people who are action oriented, thrive on challenges and want immediate results.
Influence (i): Optimistic & Lively. Enthusiastic, energetic people who are persuasive, team players and like entertaining others.
Steady (S): Sympathetic & Cooperative. Patient, helpful people who are supportive, good listeners, and perform in a consistent, predictable manner.
Conscientious (C): Concerned & Correct. Analytic, detail oriented people who are diplomatic, set high standards in everything they do and who approach any project or activity systematically.

None of these dimensions is better or worse than another. They just represent different strengths and weaknesses. Everyone has a dominant style but generally use traits from among the other behavioral dimensions as well.

Harness the power of understanding individuals' behavioral preferences, their strengths and weaknesses and how they can work together effectively. Put this knowledge to work for you.

  • Play to individual's strengths
  • Significantly improve communications
  • Work together more effectively
  • Get along better
  • Make better decisions
